Thesis purpose and objectives: the study of biocenosis of activated sludge under different operating conditions of the biocomplex of Wastewater Treatment Plant of Chisinau and the creation of an expert system database for integrated evaluation of the state of biocenosis using the results of routine laboratory testing process. For this purpose the following objectives were established: to study the composition of municipality wastewater in respect to the main hydrochemical parameters; to investigate the structure of biocenosis and conditions of adaptation of hydrobionts to the composition of wastewater and different modes of operation biocomplex; to create the expert system database.
Scientific novelty and originality of the research is in the application of an integrated approach to the study of ecosystem of activated sludge. On the basis of this approach the efficiency of biochemical process of wastewater treatment was calculated under steady state conditions of biosystem, when biocenosis of activated sludge is satisfactorily adapted to the composition of the waste water.
The scientific problem solved herein lies in the development of criteria of technological modifications of activated sludge and the establishment of relations of these criteria with classes of the dominance in the structure of the biocenosis.
Theoretical significance of conclusions based on research results is in the improvement of methods for the study of biocenosis of activated sludge, the application of the theory of functioning of aquatic ecosystems to artificial biocenosis of treatment facilities and the development of a method for creation of expert systems in the field of biochemical wastewater treatment.
Applicative value of the research is determined by the possibility of more efficient application of the information resource of routine control of the technological process, which should increase the objectiveness in decision-making process related to the operating conditions of biocomplex of Wastewater Treatment Plant of Chisinau.
Practical experience of formation a database can be used when creating expert systems for other Biological Stations of Wastewater Treatment of the Republic.
Implementation of scientific results: theoretical aspects of the validation of hydrochemical methods of the wastewater investigation were included in the training seminars of the Centre for Accreditation of Conformity Assessment of Products.
