The field of study is related to the application of the economic-mathematical methods to the assessment of the national competitiveness and economic convergence.
The purpose of this thesis is to develop theoretical foundations and the economic-mathematic tools to support the efficient management in the economic development of Republic of Moldova through convergence towards the European Union economy. The achievement of this goal entails the necessity of achieving the following major objectives: formulation of the general problem of non-linear optimization with special constraints and elaboration of the algorithm to solve it; develop special economic tools for analysis, forecasting and optimization to support the effective management of the economic development; finding the particularities of the application of the general problem of the non-linear optimization with special restrictions in practice.
The scientific novelty and originality of the obtained results consists in: the formulation of the problem of the nonlinear optimization with special restriction in the form of equations, and for the variables – rectangular and the elaboration of the algorithm to solve it; proposal of the Krugman Porter model combined with optimization facilities for the comparative research; elaboration of the algorithm to determine the optimal solution for the MKPC model with a single restriction in the form of an equation; reduced complexity, similar to the linear, of the optimization problems based on the MKPC model; the extension of a large class of optimization problems in statistics is proposed, through the integral preservation of the restrictions, thus avoiding increasing the size of the problem, and addressing them according to the algorithm for the MKPC model.
Theoretical value: the developed algorithms greatly extend the area of actual optimization problems that can be numerically solved. The proposed Combined Krugman-Porter Model fortifies the economic-mathematical tools for the economic comparative research.
The applied value of the thesis paper: the benchmarks developed for the National Project, the 2 pilot-projects and 21 economic problems formulated, can be of real use in the territorial restructuring activities as well as to the process of making the economic development of Republic of Moldova more efficient.
The scientific results of the work are applied in the project request “Identification of a agro-industrial cluster in the North of Republic of Moldova” for the Romania-Ukraine-Republic of Moldova Joint Operational Program 2007-2013 of the European Commission and realized in the qualification courses “Analysis of the regulation impact”, Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Republic of Moldova.
