Increasing of fluoride content in drinking water in many localities of Moldova testifies about fluor-endemic situation in our Republic. Taking into consideration, that in pathogenesis of fluorosis takes place activation of lipids peroxidation’ process and peroxide oxidation of intracellular proteins with imbalance of antioxidative system (AOS) defense, the main purpose of our study was an analysis of effectivity of metabolism treatment/correction in patients with dental fluorosis with complex antioxidative therapy (AOT), including calcium gluconate and vitamins A, E, C. It was investigated a group of 142 patients, 84 children and 42 adults.
Investigation of salivary AOS defense state in children and adults with dental fluorosis, including glutathione, glutathione reductase, glutathione-S-transferase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, revealed its considerable imbalance.
It has been shown the sufficient changes of salivary parameters in patients with fluorosis, reflected the mineral (Ca, P, Cl, alkaline phosphatase), proteinic (protein, urea, creatinine, proline and hydroxyproline) metabolism and salivary bacteriostatic function (SCN) in comparison with the salivary parameters of healthy people.
It has been found the direct correlative interrelation between clinical characteristics, reflected of pathological degree, and metabolic imbalance, that can allow to take more correct estimation of intoxication degree with fluoride intake into organism with drinking water (Patent for Invention, № 3163 G₂, 2006, MD).
First the salivary parameters have been investigated in monozigota concordant patients-sisters with fluorosis and shown sufficient metabolic difference.
For metabolic imbalance correction it has been suggested the complex AOT, that may be recommended for treatment of patients with fluorosis in fluor-endemic regions. AOT decreases the therapeutic course of bleaching teeth in the patients with
fluorosis average on the 2 weeks.
