Summary

Thesis includes introduction, five chapters, conclusions and practical recommendations, bibliography – 208 references, 3 annexes, 133 pages of text, 31 tables, 54 figures. The obtained results were elucidated in 16 scientific publications.

Goal of research: Optimizing epidemiological surveillance system on HIV/AIDS in the Republic of Moldova; studying epidemiological peculiarities; evaluating the population’s knowledge, attitudes and practices.

Objectives of research: Studying the epidemiological peculiarities of the HIV/AIDS epidemic process in the Republic of Moldova; evaluation the knowledge about HIV / AIDS epidemiology and studying behavior peculiarities of the young population of the Republic of Moldova; elaboration the proposals for optimizing HIV/AIDS antiepidmic system.

Methodology of research: The statistical methods, epidemiological analyses, geographical epidemiological analyses using computer programs were used.

Novelty and originality of research consists on determining epidemiological peculiarities of the HIV/AIDS epidemic process in the Republic of Moldova, evaluating the risk factors; knowledge and attitude of the young people for HIV infected persons.

Theoretical value: The obtained results contribute to the understanding, prognoses, optimizing the preventing, and control program son HIV / AIDS.

Applied value: The results will improve the knowledge of HIV epidemiological peculiarities; adequate behavior of population to HIV infected people and stabilizing the HIV epidemic process in the Republic of Moldova.

Practical implementation: The study’s results served for National Program for preventing and control HIV/AIDS and STI, the results were implemented in the didactic process at the epidemiological department of the SMPU „Nicolae Testemiţanu”, Public Health and Management School, National College of Medicine and Pharmacy.
