Research goal: molecular genetic characterization of some novel genes of transcription factors with a differencial expression in reproductive organs of tomato through meiosis.
Objectives: identification of new genes of transcription factors with a differencial expression in reproductive organs of tomato at meiosis and mature flower stages; molecular characterization of the new genes; study of the differencial expression of the genes in floral organs at different developmental stages; assessment of the possibility of using the analysed genes as molecular markers during tomato selection processes or fingerprinting.
Scientific Innovation: For the first time the expression of 3 families of transcription factors was studied in different floral organs during profase I of meiosis. New genes and gene fragments were revealed and analysed: regulatory region of TM6 gene, genomic sequence of LeCDPK1 and structural and functional analogue of RAD16 repair gene – TRL1.
Theoretical Significance: New data about the function of gene networks that assure plant reproduction was obtained. Important molecular mechanisms of the vegetal genome nativeness in regard to organ specialization were discussed.
Practical Importance: New primers are proposed for tomato fingerprinting and marker assissted selection. A new minisatellite that was found in the regulatory region of TM6 gene is proposed as a molecular marker.
Implementation of scientific results: The primary structures of 3 new clones and their
molecular characterization were registered in the international genes’ bank (NCBI) and can now
be accessed by the whole scientific community.
