The purpose and objectives: evaluating in terms of spatial rapport of territorial evolution, determining evolution specifics and perspectives socio-demographic processes in Chisinau, elaborating proposals on demographic processes optimization.

The methodology of scientific research: in the present study were used, especially, the following methods: historical, statistical-mathematical, analytical, cartographic, expedition.

The novelty and scientific originality: are evaluated numerical evolution, reproduction, structure, migration and changes related to these phenomena in Chisinau, and the interrelationship between them; is evaluated in terms of spatial rapport the territorial evolution of the city considering the influence of the historical factor.

Theoretical significance: are highlighted the theoretical and methodological aspects of the study of the urban phenomena, in particular of the city-capitals. Historical premises are analyzed, also the determining conditions and factors in the evolution of demographic phenomena of the city.

Applied value of the work: developing concrete proposals on efficient methods for maintaining demographic stability in Chisinau, estimating urban-planning policies and practices. The study presents a material rich in facts and chronologically, that can be used for different purposes: academic, instructional etc.

Implementation of scientific results: the preparation for university courses, specialization - "Geography". Elaboration of the project “The demographic situation, human resource use and population migration in rural Moldova” developed within the department “Geography and Environmental Economics”, ASEM 2009.
