The dissertation was elaborated during 2006-2009 at the department of Investments and Capital Markets, ASEM, Chisinau. The thesis consists of preface, three chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, 18 annexes, bibliography 280 items, in total 110 pages of main text, 37 figures and 9 tables. The results were published in11 scientific works and implemented in the activity of the World Bank Office in Moldova, PAIiIZ (Poland) and CDEAP.
The domain of study covers theoretical and practical aspects of functioning of the international investment market, processes and tendencies at the international investment market. The purpose of thesis is to determine the impact of these processes on social and economic development of the Republic of Moldova. Objectives of the thesis are: analysis of the role of FDI in economic development of countries, evaluation of social and economic situation in the Republic of Moldova with regard to foreign capital influence, estimation of the foreign capital impact of social and economic development of the Republic fo Moldova.
Scientific originality consists in synthesizing and determining of the specific of the international investment market and its relations, which can or influence the socio-economic position of the Republic of Moldova, proposal a synthetic indicator (GPIa) of evaluation of socio-economic situation, elaboration of a model of foreign capital impact on growth and social development of the Republic of Moldova. Special attention is paid to the analysis of studies about the impact of globalization, integration and liberalization of investment market on economies, the importance of FDI in economic development and growth, which are theoretically significant in the context of thesis purposes.
Understanding the problems of the contemporary investment market has a special practical
importance in context of economic crisis, which happened in 2008 and was generated in
financial sector. The connection of financial and real sectors of economy, which is created at the
investment market, is necessary to adopt correct policy measures. Application of methodology
approach accepted and tested on international level helped to demonstrate the impact of FDI –
the main instrument of the international investment market, on economic growth and
development of the Republic of Moldova. In practical aspect, the econometric analysis can be
considered a basis for policy steps to attract FDI in the Republic of Moldova.
