Summary

The thesis contains the introduction, three chapters, conclusions and recommendations, the bibliography of 146 titles, 5 annexes and consists of 162 pages, from which 120 pages of the main part, including 23 figures and 70 tables. Obtained results are published in 10 scientific papers.

The area of study refers to the application of economic-mathematical methods for the assessment of information and communication technologies’ (ICT) impact on economic growth.

The aim of this work consists in investigating the informatization impact on value added and labor productivity in different economic activities in Republic of Moldova. Achieving this goal involves the following major objectives: concretization of the economic-mathematical model for determination of ICT impact on value added and labor productivity, investigation of ICT impact on economies of some developed countries, adaptation of the ICT impact estimation model for conditions of Republic of Moldova, evaluation of ICT impact in Republic of Moldova, the comparative analysis of ICT impact in some developed countries and Republic of Moldova.

The scientific novelty and originality of obtained results consist in: adaptation of ranking method to comparative estimation of ICT impact on value added and labor productivity in different economic activities and countries; elucidation of methodological aspects and adaptation of the ICT impact estimation model to conditions of Republic of Moldova with lack of some statistical data; economic activities from Moldova and compared countries are ordered by the grade of ICT impact and the respective comparative analysis is done; the strong correlation between ICT capital impact and IT costs per employee in the researched economic activities is identified.

The theoretical signification: the proposed adaptation of ranking method permits the comparative evaluation of ICT impact on economic growth in different economic activities and countries; the adaptation methods of the estimation model of ICT impact on economic growth allow using it in the lack of some statistical data; ordering of economic activities by the strength of ICT impact permits the definition of some efficient strategies for promotion of informatization of diverse economic activities.

The practical value of the work: for the first time the ICT impact on economic activities in Republic of Moldova and, also, with other countries was evaluated quantitatively, identifying, in some cases, considerable gaps. The obtained results are of special practical interest for efficient differentiated promotion of informatization of different economic activities.

The scientific results of the work are implemented in the Report of eDevelopment of Republic of Moldova 2009 and are exploited within the master studies, course “Electronic Business”, in the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.
