Summary

Ph.D. Dissertation Structure includes foreword, three chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography that consists of 314 works, 2 appendixes and 182 pages of the basic text. The results obtained are published in 10 scientific works.

The scope of this paper is geopolitical interests of great powers and their impact on national security of the Republic of Moldova.

The purpose and the objectives of the paper are to analyze geopolitical interests of great powers and their impact on assuring (political, military and energy) dimensions of national security of the Republic of Moldova. The degree of achieving the intended purpose is defined by the nature and comprehensive content of the outlined objectives. The identification of geopolitical interests of the great powers when building the international system of post-Cold War; the analysis of political, military and energy security of the Republic of Moldova through the confluence of geopolitical interests of the great powers are among the main objectives of the dissertation.

The novelty and scientific originality of the work: the important scientific issue tackled refers to determining the geopolitical interests of the great powers and their impact on national security of the Republic of Moldova. The investigations are conducted by researching the interests and the policies of the great actors promoted in the sub-regional geopolitical space where the Republic of Moldova is situated, defining their impact on its national security.

The theoretical significance and practical value of the dissertation lies in the implementation of new scientific approaches in analyzing the impact of geopolitical interests of the great powers on the national security of the Republic of Moldova. Practical value consists in providing some solutions aimed at strengthening national security of the Republic of Moldova; developing two maps, the first one refers to Moldova's geopolitical position and the second one refers to mapping the secessionist conflicts in the post-Soviet space.

The scientific results have been implemented by means of their examining and approving at the sittings of the Political Science Unit and the concerned Scientific Seminar within the IEIPS of the ASM, within national and international scientific fora, and published in ten papers. The results of the research can be used by decision makers in Moldova, especially by those responsible for the negotiations on Transnistrian conflict settlement, by officials of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Economy, in the context of strengthening national security of the Republic of Moldova.
