The thesis „The novelistic representation of the Parisian woman in French literature from the second half of the XX-th century” is the first monographic study from the European space dedicated to the Parisian woman – emblematic figure of the French reality and literature.
The project of this study seeks to show how one of the novelistic structure’s fundamental elements – the character – is inscribing in the representation problems. As a heuristic approach, the work proposes an analysis of the representation of the Parisian woman personage as a complex dimension: social representation (in the civil Code), mental representation (collective representation in the form of myth of the feminine singularity), novelistic representation (representation of mimetic myth in the novel and the short story) and the dramatic representation (the theatrical way of being and acting of the Parisian woman by means of scenarios, role plays, scenes).
From the socio-cultural perspective, the Parisian woman is identified as a palimsest, overlapping and convergence of multiple projections that define her: homo modernus, homo gallicus, homo dixieviemis, homo miticus, homo urbanus, homo eroticus, homo dramaticus şi homo ludens. Contradictory as modern identity, the Parisian woman is coherent as a literary character, in the role of a constant of the French literature, as a value present in the physiologies and the novels of the XX-th century. As a literary distinctive type, the Parisian woman becomes a contagious nucleus that implies redimensions in the aesthetic field and reinterpretations in the novelistic universe.
From the phenomenological perspective, the Parisian woman is an event, because she transcends the traditional woman stereotype as an innovating model of feeling, thinking and acting.
The Parisian woman is an actress in her relation with the surroundings. This character becomes essential by the mythopo(i)etics of the appereance, that finds interpretation in the mask po(i)etics, scenes po(i)etics, verbal and non verbal po(i)etics, fashion po(i)etics. The immanence of the Parisian woman- spectacle is projecting a theatrical type reading of the novel that brings forward the multiple roles/parts of this character in the Urban Comedy.
Strategically using the fusion of different dimension of analysis the work is a
model of poetical and interdisciplinary interpretation of a complex character.
