Summary

Thesis’ structure: Introduction, three chapters, conclusions and recommendations, bibliography from 184 names, 35 appendix, 150 pages of basic text, 46 figures, 24 tables. The obtained results were published in 15 articles.

Domain of study: the management of external environment interaction with the company.

Thesis purpose and objectives: The thesis purpose is to research and emphasize the opportunities in application of the management of “external business environment with the company”.

According to the above mentioned purpose, the following objectives were outlined: to identify the opportunities and the threats at air transport sector level and the application of the management of interaction “external business environment with the company”; study of the external environment factors that could influence the air traditional flag carrier; to determine the interdependency between the company and the environment; to determine the relevant directions that will create value based on the “management of external business environment with the company”; to propose measures on the application of “the management of external business environment with the company” that will provide a strategy for sustainable development for traditional flag carrier both in Romania and Republic of Moldova.

The novelty and originality include: to elucidate the concept of management of “external business environment with the company”; to emphasize the key elements and specifics to the management of “external business environment with the company” and to concentrate on profitable activities of the business; to adapt to current situation of Romania a business model based on the possibility to obtain profit (benefits over the costs of the capital); to recommend putting in use by the national operator TAROM hedging transactions to reduce the risk of variation in fuel price and foreign exchange operations.

Theoretical significance: This thesis can serve as methodological support for research aimed to improve the management of external business environment with the company. The study of management of external business environment interaction with the company can be used in university courses for management training and development as well as a basis for aeronautical management discipline.

Applicative value of the thesis: The recomendations achieved as a result of research of the management of external business environment interaction with the company will help improve the efficiency of air transport companies in Romania and Republic of Moldova by: joining traditional air transport companies similar to Tarom to one of global strategic alliances; reduce the influence of shareholders and the centralization of the executive business decisions which would help increase the efficiency of the company; offering tickets at reduced prices while providing complete services in aircraft according to customer wishes and financial possibilities; to create the strategy for the development of traditional flag carrier.

Implementation of scientific results. Measures and recomandations proposed in the dissertation were discussed and approved by air traditional flag carrier Tarom from Romania and Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority and can be used as a basis for further devolopment of traditional flag carrier.
