Summary

Dissertation structure: consists of introduction, three chapters divided into subsections, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography of 252 titles, and 148 pages of basic text. Scientific results were published in 23 scientific works.

Field of study: political sciences and security studies.

The purpose of the research: consists in studying and identifying the priorities of strengthening the national security sector of the Republic of Moldova by exploring the European integration option. In order to reach the proposed aim following objectives were approached: it was discussed the theoretical and methodological aspects of national security approach, it was identified the main threats and vulnerabilities to national security of the Republic of Moldova, it was researched the normative and institutional framework that ensures the national security of the Republic of Moldova, it was examined the aspects and particularities of European security system, it was investigated the impact of EU and NATO enlargement on ensuring and strengthening the national security of the Republic of Moldova and it was assessed the European initiatives and contribution to the Transnistrian conflict resolution.

The novelty and scientific originality consist in addressing the national security of the Republic of Moldova through the main threats and vulnerabilities that lasts for over 20 years and could lead the state and society into a real political, economic and social collapse.

The important scientific problem solved in the political sciences and security studies consists in identifying some relevant approaches and priorities of the state activity aimed at strengthening the national security of the Republic in Moldova in the context of European integration option.

The theoretical significance and practical value: consists in addressing the process of building and strengthening the national security system through the main Moldova's internal vulnerabilities and external threats point of view, that come from the key sectors of state activity: political, military, economic, social and environmental. This study advocates a multisectorial approach to security, which means that all areas of state activity are important for ensuring the national security. The applied aspect: the results of the present research can be capitalized by decision makers in the estimation of the main threats, risks and vulnerabilities to national security of the Republic of Moldova and in developing effective policies to counter them. They could serve as theoretical supports for university lectors in preparing courses of: „Theory and practice of security”, „Public policy”, „European integration” and for the researchers dealing with security issues, in general, and with national security topics, in particular.

Implementation of scientific results: were undertaken through their examination and approval at the Political Science Unit sittings, and at the Profile Scientific Seminar of the of European Integration and Political Science Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, within the participation in more than 15 national and international conferences, and within the publication of 23 scientific works.
