Summary

Keywords: flora, vegetation, phytocoenosis, plant association, conservation of flora, vegetation conservation, grassland, steppe semidesert, rare plant species.

Field of study: Botany.

The aim of the thesis: Assessement of flora and vegetation diversity of semidesert steppes of the Republic of Moldova for optimization and preservation of floristic and coenotic diversity and sustainable use

Objectives of work: the establishment of the floristic composition and elaborating the synopsis of flora vascular plants of semidesert steppes of the Republic of Moldova; the analysis of flora from taxonomic, ecological and economic point of view, of biomorphs, geoelements, as well as categories of rarity; the description of composition and structure of vegetation associations, the identification of plant associations and elaborating the coenotaxonomic synopsis, mapping the vegetation of semidesert steppes; elaboration of recommendations for the conservation and sustainable use of flora and vegetation semidesert steppes of Republic of Moldova.

The scientific innovation of research. the floristic composition are established, the flora synopsis of vascular plants from semidesert steppes of the Republic of Moldova are elaborated; rare plant species of semidesert steppes are revealed; the floristic composition and the structure of associations are revealed and the synopsis of the coenotaxonomic vegetation of semidesert steppes are elaborated; the map of vegetation are composed and the recommendations for the optimizing the preservation of flora and vegetation of semidesert steppes of Republic of Moldova are proposed.

The scientific resolved problem consist of scientific substantiation the diversity of flora and vegetation of semidesert steppes is emphasized, composed flora synopsis, the coenotaxonomic synopsis of the vegetations, performed the analysis of flora and vegetation, the delimitation of valuable phytogeographical areas are elaborated, also the measures for protection, conservation and sustainable use of semidesert steppes, for the perspective of social-economic development of the Republic of Moldova.

Theoretical significance. Results of investigations flora and vegetation of semidesert steppes of the Republic of Moldova are the contribution in the National Plan (2002), and establishing the regularities of formation and development the herbaceous communities in the steppe zone.

Research applied value. The scientific data exposed in the paper reveals the actual status of flora and vegetation semi-desert grasslands from Republic of Moldova. On the basis of scientific data the measures of optimization the flora and vegetation conservation semi-desert steppes will be elaborated. The investigations carried out are envisaging in the priority directions of the National Strategy of the Action Plan in the field of biological diversity conservation in Republic of Moldova (2002).

Implementation of scientific results. Scientific researches are included in priority directions of the National Strategy and a Plan for the conservation of biodiversity. Based on the obtained materials the measures for preservation of flora and vegetation, to establish the status of the two protected nature reserves by semidesert steppes vegetation will be introduced.
