Summary

The thesis is presented on 103 pages. It contains: introduction, 4 chapters, conclusions, recommendations and the 174 sources of the bibliography, 37 tables, 39 figures. The results have been published in 23 scientific papers.

The field of study: epidemiology, virology.

The purpose of study: Determination and evaluation of epidemiological features of viral hepatitis C in groups at high risk, in order to optimize epidemiological surveillance (epidemiological, virological and prophilaxy aspects).

The objectives of study: Studying and evaluation of viral hepatitis C morbidity in people from groups at high risk by determining the seroprevalence. Studying and evaluation of epidemiological features of viral hepatitis C in people from groups at high risk depending on gender, living place, geographical area, risk factors. Developing of proposals on improving the epidemiological surveillance of hepatitis C.

Scientific problem: Were highlighted morbidity and epidemiological features of viral hepatitis C in people from groups at high risk in Moldova. It was established a high seroprevalence of HCV in hemodialysed patients, healthcare workers with surgical profile and intravenous drug users, membership to these groups constitute a risk factor.

The scientific novelty and originality: For the first time, were obtained original results about epidemiological features of hepatitis C in groups with high risk of infection with elements of molecular epidemiology and establishing social impact. Based on obtained data will be initiated the improving of system of epidemiological surveillance of viral hepatitis C.

The theoretical value: For the first time, results obtained by author have revealed new epidemiological features of hepatitis C depending on gender, behavior, living place, treatment and genotype.

The practical value: The results will enable to optimize the epidemiological surveillance system, prevent infection and spread of hepatitis C. The implementation of scientific results: Scientific results were implemented in the elaboration of the National Program for combating of viral hepatitis B, C and D for period 2012-2016.
