Summary

Structure: introduction, 5 chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography including 361 titles, 13 annexes, 232 pages of basic text, 33 tables and 29 figures. The content of the thesis was published in 91 scientific papers.

Purpose of the thesis: determination of the taxonomic composition of cultivated dendrological flora and assessment of the results of multiannual of woody plants’ introduction and the use in the national economy.

Tasks of the thesis: study of the cultivated dendrological flora; assessment of the green spaces and dendrological collections; analysis of the vitality of introduced woody plants; determination of the function of plants; ecogeographycal analysis and determination of floristic regions that are promising for introduction; determination of the resistance of woody plants to adverse conditions created by air pollutions and accumulation of pollutants; dendrological zoning of Chisinau according to the level of pollution; development of a assortment of woody plants suitable for determinate dendrological zones.

Scientific innovation and originality. For the first time the cultivated dendrological flora (1490 taxons) was highlighted and determined and ecogeografic analisys of introduced species was done. Also, the floristic regions were highlighted, flora of which has a perspective to be introduced on the territory of Republic of Moldova. The Complex Theory of Plant Introduction was developed.

Theoretical significance. The Complex Theory of Plant Introduction, developed by us, corresponds to the scientific and practical needs, offering the possibility to make evident the floristic regions and to appreciate the promising species for introduction, with scientific support for implementation in culture.

Main new results for science and application. The definition of cultivated dendroflora was elaborated and the taxa component of the cultivated dendroflora of the Republic of Moldova was established (1490 taxa). Multiannual results of woody plants introduction were evaluated and the Complex theory of Plant Introduction was elaborated. This theory includes mobilization, genotypic adaptation, populational adaptation, naturalization and practical usage. A new direction in science was created; it means woody plant ecology of polluted environment. The perspective floristic regions for plant introduction in the Republic of Moldova were established.

Applicative value. The scientific research results can be used in the elaboration of the assortments of trees, shrubs and lianas for the national economy.

Implementation of results. Were elaborated and implemented by the author “Методологические рекомендации по комплексному ассортименту древесных и цветковых растений для озеленения в Молдавии и курортной зоны “Сергеевка” (Methodological recommendations for a comprehensive range of woody and flowering plants for landscaping in Moldova and the resort area “Сергеевка”). For most of species and varieties the propagation technologies were elaborated, which were summarized and published by the Agency “Moldsilva” for needs of the branch.
