Summary

The work consists of 258 pages of body text, which includes the introduction, five chapters, the main conclusions and recommendations, bibliographical index of 302 sources, 2 attachments. The research results have been published in 39 studies.

Area of research: Composers’ creation in the Republic of Moldova in the period of transition of the turn of the 20th- 21st centuries (1985 – 2010). The purpose of the study is an attempt to give a holistic interpretation of the composers' creativity in the Republic of Moldova between the second half of the 1980’s until 2010 in accordance with the transformations of socio-cultural paradigm during the transition period. Objectives of the study are the following: to examine the specifics of development of genres of symphony, chamber and instrumental music, instrumental concert, musical theatre in the transition period; to submit a complete analysis of the most representative works written by the composers from the Republic of Moldova; to reveal a musical genres hierarchy in the general panorama of their development at the present stage, related to the of socio-cultural paradigm’ change; to show the evolution of national style in the works of composers of the Republic of Moldova; to identify the degree of assimilation of new techniques of composition and stylistic peculiarities in the postmodern era by Moldovan composers; to emphasize the importance of the leading composer’s personalities in this period.

Scientific novelty: For the first time in the national musicology a large-scale study of the professional composers’ creation in the Republic of Moldova of the post-Soviet period has been undertaken, being focused on the basic genres of professional music: symphony, instrumental concerto, instrumental chamber music and musical theatre. For the first time they are presented as a holistic phenomenon in the light of new trends being determined due to transformations of a transition stage. Works, which were mostly in the manuscripts and did not fall into the field of view of national musicologists, have been for the first time introduced to the academic community.

Fundamentally new scientific results: the important role of the professional composer's creation in the national musical culture of post-Soviet period has been identified; the national characteristic stylistic variety of the composer's creation of Moldova have been revealed as well as the ways to maintain it in a period of social and cultural globalization; the leading stylistic trends taking place in the space of postmodernism have been studied; the transformation of genre-style system in the transition period at the turn of the 20th-21st centuries as well as specifics of its reflection in the composers’ creation of the Republic of Moldova have been marked.

The theoretical significance of the thesis is that for the first time the panorama of the modern composer's creation in the Republic of Moldova is presented within the context of the new socio-cultural paradigm of the transition period, which requires the active involvement of the extended methodological base of the human sciences.

The practical significance of the thesis: the results of the work can be used in a higher music education, in the study of such subjects as the history of modern music, the history of the national music, history and theory of styles in a music art, musical analysis and others.

Implementation of scientific results: The results of the work have been implemented in 39 conferences and symposiums in the Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation and Ukraine, as well as in the author‘activity as a professor at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts.
