The research purposeis to establish personality features and their influence towards the adjustment process of first year students to the university environment and promoting efficient psychosocial conditions thereof.

Research objectives relate to: theoretical analysis of the content and features of psychosocial adaptation process; analysis of the factors influencing the process of students’ adaptations; determining the methods of psychological diagnosis for highlighting the personality typology; determining particularities of personality of students undergoing psychosocial adaptation process; description of mutual relations between psychosocial personality clues in the adaptation process; establish and describe the basic types of personality, influenced by the primary factors in the psychosocial adaptation; development and implementation of psychosocial adaptation conditions and accelerate the process of adaptation of first year students.

The novelty and the originality of the scientific investigation consists in: establishing the interaction between particularities of personality of first year students in higher education universities and the process of their psychosocial adaptation; determining personality psychological profiles and the level of psychological adaptation of first year students from universities; there are suggested conditions of accelerating the process of psychological adaptation of first year students from universities. The important solved scientific problem is to establish the conditions of acceleration of the psychosocial adaptation process of first year students in universities, in accordance with their specific personality particularities.

The theoretical importance of the research: there were determined the characteristics of psychosocial adaptation process of students to university environment and typical psychosocial particularities which are manifested within the adaptation process to the conditions of university environment; relations were established between the level of psychosocial adaptation of students and their personality traits; it was determined the complex of individual qualities forming typological features specific to the personality structure in the process of psychosocial adaptation.

The practical value of the research consists in: argumentation of the practical possibility of management techniques, methods applied in our research as instruments of diagnostic of the process of students’ adaptation to the university training system; the methods used and the results based on them can be used in counseling service in higher education institutions, to modeling behavior and ways of psychosocial adaptation of the students within the learning activities; experimental results will contribute to optimal organization of the diagnostic process of non-adaptation situations; forecasting evolutions process of students’ adaptation at different stages of study; to the streamlining and accelerating the process of psychosocial adaptation of students to university training. The psychological model of making more efficient the adjustment process can be applied to students in curricular and extra- curricular educational activities within higher education institutions.

The implementation of scientific results were achieved by experimenting psychosocial conditions of improvement and acceleration of the adaptation process of first year students in institutions of higher education.
