Structure: The paper consists of an introduction, five chapters, conclusions and recommendations, 114 bibliography titles, and includes 5 Annexes, 142 pages, 57 figures, 32 tables. The results are published in 18scientific papers.
Field of study - technical sciences.
The aim of the thesis: evaluation of wind power potential and development of an informational support for its capitalization, which will serve as a reference for the location of any wind farm and justify the inclusion of wind power in the national economic circuit of RM.
Objectives: To study and identify an appropriate methodology for assessing wind energy potential of the Republic of Moldova; historical wind data processing; calculation of the wind speed and power density maps, according to which the wind potential was identified and the production of a wind farm was estimated.
Scientific novelty and originality of the work. The theoretical and practical research allowed answering two unavoidable questions that appear when we are trying to develop wind energy projects in the region: „What is the theoretical, technical and electrical wind potential of RM? ” and „How is this potential distributed on the territory of RM?”.
Important scientific problem solved. It consists in the determination of our country's wind resources that allows the elaboration of the Wind Energy Resource Atlas as a source of information for the purpose of decision making regarding the development of renewable electricity generation capacity.
Theoretical importance. The thesis brings scientific contributions in a new area of interest - presenting a theoretical and practical algorithm for the evaluation of the wind power potential of a region or a location. A methodology and a calculation algorithm of wind technical potential are proposed based on power density digital maps.
The value of the work. It was demonstrated the applicability of the Wind Atlas Method for RM, determined the technical potential of the country and generated maps of wind speed and wind power density from 50 to 100 m height. The results were validated by using the comparison method of calculated and measured values. It was estimated the production of an eventual wind farm.
The scientific results of the thesis are applicable to development processes of wind projects, feasibility studies, decision-making at local or central level regarding the capitalization of wind energy and as didactic support for the courses in the field of renewable sources.
