Summary

The structure of the dissertation includes: four chapters, conclusions and recommendations, bibliography comprising 168 sources, including 203 examples of folk music and notes to them, 5 annexes, 131 pages of basic text. The research results are reflected in 8 scientific publications. Field of study: musical folklore.

Research goal and objectives. The goal of this research consists in the complex study of traditional music for violin from the northern region of Moldova. The achievement of this goal involves the following objectives: 1. Elucidation of the phenomenon of traditional violin per-formance in the northern folkloric region, outlining the representatives of violin art, lăutari and dynasties of lăutari, from the synchronic and diachronic perspectives; 2. Treating the traditional violin repertoire under the aspect of content, functionality, intercultural relations; 3. Analysis and classification of tunes, the outline of rhythmic, melodic and architectonic peculiarities.

Scientific novelty and originality. The novelty of this research consists in revealing certain important aspects linked with traditional instrumental music for violin from the northern region of Moldova, not found yet in national ethnomusicology. This paper tends to complete an insufficiently studied space, linked with the phenomenon of traditional instrumental art, the evolution of music language and musical thinking, having as basis the violin repertoire from the studied folkloric space. The studied musical material is truly unique in its nature, selected after field investigations and transcribed according to the rules of scientific transcription.

The important scientific problem solved consists in: revealing and laying stress on distinct personalities, representatives of violin art of lăutari from the northern region, who contributed to the development of national musical culture and the musical repertoire, distinguished by its heterogeneous content, outlining its distinct structural peculiarities.

Theoretical significance. This paper is based on fundamental theoretical concepts of contemporary ethnomusicology, empharizing the analytical aspect. On their basis, resulting from the peculiarities of the studied musical material, when analyzing the sound, rhythmic and architectonic systems had been drafted and implemented an appropriate methodological system, which can serve as theoretical basis for the drafting other ethnomusicological studies.

Applicative value of the topic. The results of analytical, comparative and structural-typological research can serve as important benchmarks for the study of folk music from the region, and not only. All the materials of this paper can be used in such didactic courses as „Musical Folklore”, „History of National Music”, „History of Popular Instrumental Performing Art” and specialty courses, such as the study of popular music instrument, in musical-artistic secondary and higher education institutions.

Implementation of scientific results. The scientific results had been reflected in published articles and in papers presented at annual scientific conferences organized at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts and recommended for the thesis defence. The scientific results have been implemented in national and international scientific conferences held at AMTFP in the years 2009-2015, the AMTFP scientific projects: Folclor și postfolclor în contemporaneitate (2014-2015), Patrimoniul muzical din Republica Moldova (folclor și creație componistică) în contemporaneitate (2015-2018).
