Summary

Creating and evaluating polycross hybrids of Lavandula angustifolia, a thesis of Doctor in Agriculture, Chisinau, 2016, the thesis consists of Introduction, 4 chapters, conclusions, practical recommendations, 245 references and 4 annexes. The total volume is of 145 pages, including 26 tables, 29 figures. The research results were published in 11 scientific papers.

The field of studies: Plants breeding and seed production. The purpose of the work includes consisted in the create of the initial material for breeding, evaluation of polycross hybrids F1 of lavender; selecting valuable genotypes with different vegetation periods, increased content of the essential oil and their use in the creation of new varieties - clones.

The objectives: evaluation of quantitative character that have directly impact on the hybrids productivity.

Selection hybrids F1 with remarkable quantitative characters, including the content and chemical composition of the essential oil; determination of the heterosis effect and the coefficient of variation; creation of perspectives varieties – clones and their inclusion in the comparative cultures competition testing.

Scientific novelty: the use of lavender polycross hybrids to increase the variability of recombinants and creating the original initial material for breeding. In order to create the new genotypes, with valuable characters and properties, in the hybridization have been included parental forms with different genetic and geographical origin.

The important scientific problem solved: is to improve the methods of creation of the initial original breeding material based on the scientific substantiation through the polycross hybridization with the evaluation and selection of perspectives genotypes, which led to the development of the new varieties – clones of lavender, that allowed the use of controlled polycross hybridization by selection of the parental forms.

Theoretical significance: highlighting of heterosis some legitimate manifestation on quantitative characters of the polycross hybrids of lavender that allows forecasting the heterosis impact on polycross hybrids and identification of the valuable genotypes for creating new varieties – clones.

Applicative value: the research carried resulted in obtaining of the heterotic polycross hybrids F1 with early, middle and late period of maturity, cold-resistant and overwintering. F1 hybrids with high content of essential oil, vegetative multiplication allow the creation of new varieties - clones with high productivity and adapted to the climatic conditions of cultivation in Moldova.

Implementation scientific results of the relates to the production of lavender seedlings are utilization in Peasant Farm «Gîrlea Andrei Pavel» in the town of Rezina, and SC Ecoland Production SRL, Botosani, Romania.
