Summary

The main goal of this research is to multidimensionally approach the problem of national minorities of the Republic of Moldova from political theory position and to evaluate the condition and role of the national minorities in the modern society. The research covers a comprehensive political analysis of the current problems related to the condition and protection of the national minorities as a component of interethnic relationship and to identification of specific features of the national minorities in the Republic of Moldova. This is the first study that covers a multidimensional approach from the political point of view of the problem of the national minorities of the Republic of Moldova.

The first part of the thesis reflects theoretical and methodological aspects of interethnic relationship, where the notions of ethnic group, national minority and diaspora are defined and examined. Possible models of collaboration between the national state and national minorities were studied in this thesis.

The second part of the study analyses the formation and evolution processes of the integration policy of the national minorities in Republic of Moldova. A special attention has been paid to the ethno-national structure through the prism of historic, geographic and social aspects.

The state of the Republic of Moldova tends to a just and an equilibrated development of the relationship between ethnos coexisting on the territory of Moldova. To achieve this goal there were founded governmental and nongovernmental institutions which duly regulate this relationship.

Moreover, the adoption of the relevant legislation on the national minorities’ rights and obligations had been continuously supported, actions contributing to the qualitative and quantitative evolution of the integration policy had been encouraged, contributing thus to the consolidation of the state and social stability.
