Summary

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the importance of Russia in international affairs has been diminished substantially. However, the negative consequences of Soviet Union collapse can be compensated by the economic development and establishment of strong ties cu CIS countries. Russia is interested in strong relations and reintegration with countries involved in “near abroad” police because of security, economic and humanitarian reasons. In the following regard, the most important priority of Russia foreign policy remains the consolidation its relations with CIS countries.

Russia Federation remains the second nuclear power in the world and keeps on playing an important role in Eurasia. In nowadays, the GDP per capita in Russia is lower than in Germany, France, Italy or Great Britain. However, as oppose to these countries, in a geopolitical space there can not be solved any problems without Russia. In the present context, because of its geographical placement, Russia is predestined to remain a superpower, even being less economically developed than other countries.

The Kremlin administration headed by V.Putin promote a policy of involving Russia in the present globalization processes, of transforming it in one of the most important fragment of ties between Europe and Asia, but respecting its national interests. As a priority goal is the maximum integration in world economy, realizing important steps forward in order to attract investments and foreign technologies as well as increasing the competitiveness on international trade markets, because there are lower chances for Russia to realize such economical steps based on proper resources and technologies. In the present regard, Russia is increasing economic, scientific, and technologic cooperation with USA, EU countries and those from the Asia-Pacific region. Regarding security issues, there has been increased the dialogue with NATO. Russia could and should cooperate with Western Europe and Asian tigers in those fields where it is most needed and where their interests come into agreement. The strategy of isolation for Russia is equally with deal.

The most strategic goal of Russia in international affairs is to transform itself in an economical, financial and communication bridge between Asian and European economy, but in a larger context- between Asian and European communities. The apprehension of this goal presumes Russia participation in building common economic house Europe-Asia-Pacific, and than politically. Russia has also chances to become one of the most important elements which connect developed countries and developing countries.
