The aim of the present work is to offer an insight into the role the parties play in the framework of the political system of Moldova, their functioning both at the level of political society, which reffers to political constituent of the civil society and at the level of political administration, which is already connected with the state striktly speaking.
The first chapter, "Systemic approach to political parties: theoretical and methodological aspects", is called to provide a solid theoretical background. The relevant notions have been elucidated separately: "party", "system", "political system", "party system". Naturally, the first and foremost thing was to choose a definition for what a political party really is. Then, we discuss the types of political parties and present a typology not yet popularized in our interested academic space. We then proceed to the analysis of main contextual notions: the broader "system", the narrower "political system" and the specific "party system".
The second chapter, "Political parties at the level of political society", deals with the manifestations of the political parties at the level of the segment of the civil society which firstly hosts the affirmation of a party. We start with a short history of the multi-party system of Moldova and then go to the status of the parties. The other important aspects we pay attention to in this chapter are: the pozitioninig, social base, ideology, platform, electoral message, electoral competitiveness and party relevance.
The third chapter, "Political parties at the level of political administration", is dedicated to the research of the evolution of moldovan parties at the level of political governing. So, we in fact analize two aspects: the Parliamentary aspect (which does not necessarily mean governing, as we know according to the theory of party relevance), dealing with parliamentary factions, and the Governmental aspect, that refers to coalitions (aims and principles of building, types of). In the last instance, we look at the moldovan parties in the role of opposition: patterns of fruitless struggle (predominant) and constructive collaboration (up to now insignificant, but promising since the so-called "red-orange" coalization in april 2005, in the name of the european integration of the country).
