The present work is dedicated to the research of the present state of the fauna and diversity of coleopterans from the forest ecosystems from Central Moldavian Plateau, the trophical spectrum, geographical spread, and the saproxilic coleopterans from the primeval forests and their practical importance.
As a result of the investigations made during the years 2002-2005, on the area of the Central Moldavian Plateau, there were identified 414 species belonging to 140 genres, 66 tribes, 22 subfamilies and 6 families. The taxons: family Rhysodidae, genres Rhysodes Dalman, Cucujus Muller, Silvanus Latreille and 8 species are new for the fauna of the Republic of Moldova, 19 species are rare and menaced with the extinction, from which 5 species are included in the IInd edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova, but the Cerambyx cerdo L., and Cucujus cinnaberinus (Scop.) species are included in the annex II of the Berna Convention.
There were identified the prevailing zoogeographical elements, the origin and the ways of how the present coleopteran fauna was made up in the investigated area. Enthomocenoses of the coleopterans from the forest ecosystems of the Central Moldavian Plateau are formed of species belonging to 12 geographical groups: cosmopolitan (2 species), holarctical (14), transpalearctical (68), westpalearctical (34), eurosiberian (87), European (80), eurocaucasian (33), euroasiatic (13), euromediterian (34), mediterian (36), ponticostepicol (9) and pontical (4). The nucleus of the investigated coleopterans fauna is prevalent made of eurosiberian, european, and transpalearctical elements.
According to the preferable trophical system, the majority coleopterans represents the fitofag group, which constitutes 40% from the total number of the known species, followed by the zoofag (36%).The coprofag represent 11%, the mixofag – 9%, and the necrofag – 4%.
At the same time there was made the structure and the dynamics of the coleopterans cenoses from 8 types of forests of the Central Moldavian Plateau. There was demonstrated how the ecological indexes (the index of diversity Shannon, Simpson, equitability) change within the whole period of vegetation of the years 2001-2005.
For the first time, on the bases of saproxilic indicators, there were selected 7 types of forests of an European importance (62,8 ha): the durmast forest with carpinus mixture (6,7 ha), durmast forest with tilia-fraxinus mixture (8,4 ha), fagus forest (6,8 ha), oak forest with durmast mixture (3,2 ha), durmast forest (25,1 ha), carpinus forest with tilia-oak mixture (7,8 ha), oak forest (4,8 ha), and there were elaborated recommendations regarding their protection and conservation on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
The final data will be really useful for the knowledge of the fauna and diversity of the
coleopterans from the forests ecosystems on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, that
corresponds to the Plan of Actions of the national Strategy of biodiversity conservation, and also in
solving the problems of Monitoring and Cadastre of the animals from the Republic of Moldova.
