Summary

The aim and objectives of the study: analysis of role and particularities of migraine, as a potential vascular risk factor and its relation to other known vascular risk factors in patients with ischemic vascular events (stroke and acute coronary events) and of clinical features of endothelial dysfunction and oxydative stress in these patients.

Novelty and study originality: It was conducted a comprehensive analysis of the specifics and particularities of migraine, in patients with ischemic stroke and acute coronary syndrome. It has been demonstrated that patients with migraine have a more severe impact on the degree of motor disability than patients with other/or without headache. Investigation of biochemical parameters allowed to estimate particularities of the endothelial dysfunction and oxidative stress in patients with migraine.

The scientific issue solved in the thesis: The impact and correlation of migraine were estimated, along with other risk factors, in the phenomenon of ischemic cerebral and coronary events, together with analysis of migraine influence on vascular endothelium and oxidative stress.

Theoretical value: Our study provided additional arguments that migraine can be regarded as a possible factor of risk for ischemia, beginning at a younger age, having an impact on vascular endothelium, and causing worse disability compared with patients without migraine and other headaches or without headache. This requires proper management in the treatment/prevention of migraine for prophylaxis of ischemic cerebral and cardiac attacks.

Practical value consisted in highlighting patients with migraine who have a high risk of ischemic stroke and heart attacks in order to apply preventive treatment. The current work determined the opportunity of assessment of endothelial dysfunction and oxidative stress in patients with headache syndromes, especially in those with migraine.

Implementation of scientific results was conducted in the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery (Departments of Rehabilitation, Headache and Autonomic disorders), Institute of Cardiology, The Municipal Hospital ,,Sfînta Treime”.
