Summary

Structure of the thesis: The thesis consists of 162 typed pages, comprises the following chapters: List of acronyms; Introduction; 4 Chapters; General Conclusions and Practical Recommendations; Bibliography consisting of 273 titles; 79 pages of main text; includes 36 figures, 8 tables, 9 formulas and 5 annexes.

The obtained results have been published in 6 scientific publications, 4 patents and 2 certificates for innovation have been obtained.

Research field:Dentistry, chronical marginal periodontitis.

Aim of the research: the pathogenic argumentation of the use of active oxygen in its allotrope form in the complex treatment of severe chronic marginal periodontitis (severe CMP).

Objectives of the research: to develop and use the new method of application of the medical ozone in periodontal tissue. To evaluate the periodontal pockets microbiocenosis in patients with severe CMP by making use of the proposed treatment method compared to the classical non-surgical treatment. To evaluate the serum level of the oxidative stress marker – superoxide dismutase (SOD) in patients with severe CMP by using the proposed treatment method compared to the classical non-surgical treatment. To examine the capillary blood micro-circulation in periodontal tissue through the Laser-Doppler flowmetry (LDF) in patients with severe CMP by using the proposed treatment method compared to the classical non-surgical treatment. To develop a therapeutic protocol for using medical ozone in the complex treatment of severe CMP.

The scientific novelty of the research: For the first time, there have been developed and applied in practice several efficient methods of application of medical ozone in the complex treatment of severe CMP and the peculiarities of effects of the medical ozone on the microbiocenosis of periodontal pockets and blood microcirculation in the capillary blood microcirculation within the periodontal tissue. As a novelty, the dynamic analysis of the serum level of the superoxide dismutase marker (SOD) in patients with severe CMP has been done and the effectiveness of modulation with medical ozone of the oxidation status has been proven, which has been applied systemically and locally. A new method of application of the Laser-Doppler probe has been proposed, in the region of fixed gum in order to record the LDF-grams in the evaluation of the capillary blood microcirculation within periodontal tissue. A new protocol for the complex of severe CMP has been developed and has proven the effectiveness of complementing the classical non-surgical periodontal treatment with medical ozone, applied systemically and locally in patients with severe CMP, proved based on clinical, paraclinical and functional research methods.

Scientific problem solved: Scientific substantiation of theoretical and practical material for the application of medical ozone in dentistry and development of a new algorithm for the complex treatment of severe CMP through systemic and topical application of medical ozone.

Theoretical and practical value of the study: Expanded and strengthened theoretical knowledge on the mechanism of systemic and topical effects of medical ozone, as well as on the modalities of its application in clinical dentistry. The results obtained in the study create strong theoretical support in favor of a multidisciplinary approach to periodontal disease.

Implementation of scientific results: The results of investigations have been implemented at the multifunctional clinic "Grandismedozon" (Act No. 3 of 15.12.2011); the I.M.S.P. Dental Clinic of Medical University Nicolae Testemitanu (Act No. 4 of 10.26.2015); the I.M.S.P. Republican Dental Polyclinic (Act No. 5 of 02.06.2016);
