Field of study: Anaesthesia and Intensive Care.
Research goal. Identifying risk factors in patients with obstructive sleep apnea and estimating the probability of occurrence of postoperative complications depending on surgical profile and anesthetic technique.
Thesis objectives: (1) Testing the validity of the existing standardized questionnaires in perioperative period, for the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea; (2) Identification of risk factors that influence the prevalence of perianaesthetic complications in patients with obstructive sleep apnea vs. without obstructive sleep apnea; (3) Comparative analysis of the prevalence of perianaesthetic complications in patients with obstructive sleep apnea vs. without obstructive sleep apnea depending on the type of surgery (on musculoskeletal and abdominal cavity) and the anesthetic technique (general, loco-regional and neuraxial); (4) Argumentation of the management of avoidable perianaesthetic complications based on a weighted preoperative predictive score for obstructive sleep apnea.
Scientific novelty. It was investigated the impact of obstructive sleep apnea in anesthesia and impact of the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea on postoperative complications.
Scientific problem resolved in this work. It was identified risk factors that contribute to the appearance of perioperative complications and adverse events. It was proposed a model for optimal screening, which will provide early diagnosis and application of rational methods of perioperative management. <
The significance of the paper. It was conducted estimation of risk factors for obstructive sleep apnea, and spectrum of postoperative complications and adverse events, which occurs in patients with obstructive sleep apnea depending on surgical profile and anesthetic technique.
Value of the work. It was selected the best test for preoperative screening of patients with obstructive sleep apnea. Given test was optimized by adding a suplimentar parameter -abdominal circumference.
