The work structure: introduction, three chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography of 297 titles, 9 applications, 180 pages of text, 23 tables, 34 figures. Publications on the dissertation topic. The results of the investigation have been reflected in the 19 publications (5 articles in scientific journals, 12 scientific papers in the proceedings of scientific conferences and 2 textbooks).
The area of research: ▪ theory and methodology of instruction (world literature).
The investigation goal: ▪ theoretical basis and methodology of formation of intercultural competence of students-philologists in the teaching/learning of World Literature.
The research objectives: ▪ analysis of the theoretical basis for the formation of intercultural competence within the framework of world literature study; ▪ identification of peculiarities of the text perception in the context of intercultural dialogue; ▪ definition of the components of the content of intercultural competence focused on the study of world literature ; ▪ description of the specifics of the national-cultural analysis of literary text ; ▪ analysis of the situation in the area of training in the practice of teaching world literature at the university in terms of the research problem; ▪ definition of the levels of development of the intercultural competence; ▪ development and experimental testing of the pedagogical model of students-philologists’ intercultural competence formation; ▪ identification of effective strategies to achieve intercultural competence based on the text; ▪ quality and numerical analysis of the pedagogical experiment.
Scientific novelty and originality of the investigation consists in identification and analysis of theoretical aspects of the intercultural competence formation in the study of the world literature; definition of the role and specificity of the artistic text as a mediator of cultures; development of the concept of formation of intercultural competence of students-philologists when studying the world literature; identification of the contents of the intercultural competence, oriented to the world literature; development of an integrated approach when studying literary texts – the national and cultural analysis; development of a formation model of the intercultural competence of students-philologists.
The scientific problem, solved in the investigation, consists in substantiation, argumentation and development of the pedagogical model of the students- philologists’ intercultural competence formation in the process of teaching/learning of world literature.
The investigation theoretical significance consists in theoretical and methodological substantiation of students-philologists’ intercultural competence formation in the process of literary education; the analysis of the evolution of concepts of intercultural competence; investigation of text perception peculiarities in the context of intercultural dialogue; identification of the content and structure of intercultural competence, oriented to literary text; development of criteria and description of the levels of formation of intercultural competence; description of the “intercultural awareness” concept; conceptualization and design of the functional pedagogic model of the formation of the students-philologists’ intercultural competence based on the world literature texts.
The investigation practical significance definition of the development level of the studentsphilologists’ intercultural competence; development of methodology of pedagogical models of intercultural competence formation in the practice of university teaching/learning of world literature; creation of an integrated system of assignments aimed at the formation of intercultural competence through world literature artistic text.
Implementation of scientific results has been accomplished in the course of the pedagogical experiment as well as in scientific publications, developed curriculums and in teaching.
