Summary

Thesis structure. The present research contains an annotation (in Romanian, Russian and English), the list of abbreviations, content, introduction, three chapters, 132 pages of basic text, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography (200 titles), 9 appendices, 6 tables and 6 diagrams. The obtained results of this investigation are published in 12 scientific works.

The aim and objectives. We planned to realize a complex linguistic analysis of English borrowings appeared in Republic of Moldova and Romanian periodicals at the current stage. In order to achieve the goal, we intended to research the “anglicisms” phenomenon in Romanian, underlining their role in the internationalization of the vocabulary and watching their evolutionary course in stages, to demonstrate that currently, as a result of a long process of adaptation, confirms its functionality.

The scientific novelty and originality of the thesis consist in examining and elucidating an aspect less studied in our linguistics: the infiltration and the frequency of using neologisms of English origin in mass-media from Republic of Moldova, lexical units that circulate in abundance in the Romanian vocabulary, requiring a deep examination and the formulation of some acceptable recommendation, because the process is complex, but its potential isn’t yet completely valued. Once examined, the results of the solved problems demonstrate the innovative value of the present research, through introduction of some alternative terms for certain definition and through an innovative approach of the Anglicism phenomenon.

Scientific solved problem in the thesis consists in the elucidation of a linguistic phenomenon little studied in our country through certain contributions regarding the elaboration of a conceptual and normative framework, which contributes to the highlighting of the anglicisms utility, in order to accept and adapt them in the Romanian vocabulary and of their application in communication.

The theoretical significance resides in the fact that the results can be a landmark for understanding the structure and evolution of the lexicon, emphasizing the creative potential of the Romanian language, which, accepting raw foreign linguistic material, lends it to its laws through a complex adaptation process and includes it into internal circulation, being also recognized in the international communication.

The practical value. The research and the findings can contribute to the understanding and proper use of synonymous means of expression. They can provide help for lexicology specialists in continuing the investigation, for users from other spheres (teachers, students, master and PhD students) in the elaboration of special courses, theses, reports, explanatory dictionaries.

The implementation of scientific results. The obtained results were published in specialized Journals, were approved by participations in national and international conferences. They may serve also in teaching lexicological disciplines and in perfecting lexicographical studies.
