Summary

ANNOTATION Elena Ungureanu. Intertext and hypertext: linguistical and semiotical analysis. Doctor habilitate thesis in philology, Chisinau, 2017. The structure of the thesis: introduction, six chapters, conclusions and recommendations, bibliography and webography of 500 titles, 223 pages of basic text, 20 tables, 64 figures, 16 annexes. The results are published in a monograph, 1 science-popular edition, 2 collective works, 60 research articles, 4 dictionaries (2 with co-authors) and 3 hypertextual glossaries. Keywords: text, intertext, hypertext, hypertextem, hypertextology, online language, (hyper)link, internet-linguistics, hypertext-linguistics, web, web-semiotics, (in)coherence, (in)cohesion. The area of study is the theoretical and practical aspects of interaction between intertext and hypertext. The purpose of the thesis: describing the relationship between the two concepts: intertext and hypertext, and respectively intertextology and hypertextology. Main objectives of the thesis: the theoretical fundamentation of existence of a (dis)continuity relationship between the components of the triad text – intertext – hypertext; substantiating the need to establish new disciplines for the specialty „62. Philology. 621. Language sciences”, such as the linguistics of Internet or (inter)net-linguistics; hypertext theory; hypertext-linguistics; hypertext as a fundamental web unit; hypertext as a subject of information and communication sciences. The objectives of the work include: describing the evolution of hypertext concept as a metaphor and a term; highlighting the particularities of Internet language as a virtual language; characterising the fundamental units of hypertext: hypertextem, texton and hyperlink; hypertextometric analysis of the online Bible; comparative analysis of Wikipedia articles; identifying and describing elements of the semiotic web. Scientific novelty and originality: a new research area is substantiated – electronic hypertext as a study subject of humanities, namely linguistics, with characteristics clearly different from those of a printed text, which derive from the opposition linearity vs non-linearity. Essentially new results in science and practice described in the thesis, attest the development of a new scientific area, such as electronic hypertext as a study object of language and communication sciences. Theoretical significance: theorizing the two concepts – intertext and hypertext – as being indispensable for the general theory of text; opening in the local environment a new area such as hypertextology; insisting on the need for inter-, trans- and multi-disciplinary studies; highlighting the importance of connecting the study of the Romanian language to that of information technology in order to accelerate the development of information and knowledge society. The applied value lies in the possibility of using the research results in higher education, as basis for developing special courses on general linguistics, text linguistics, (inter)net-linguistics, theory of the text, intertext and hypertext, general semiotics and semiotics of the web, general poetics and poetics of the web etc. The concept of hypertext was exemplified by the work itself, complete with verifiable and quantifiable intratextual and extratextual links. Results implementation. Many aspects of the current research were disseminated through workshops and public lectures at specialized university faculties in Republic of Moldova, libraries, social media posts, radio programs, meetings of scientific clubs. The research results are useful for the preparation of the courses and to supplement general and specialized dictionaries.
