Summary

The thesis has engaged to research youths’ gender identity under conditions of changing social roles.

The thesis proves the statement that masculine and feminine sex-role identification specifically reflects on one’s position in society, on personal and professional activities. The more self-defining in terms of masculinity and femininity corresponds with each one’s real features and behaviors, the more self-contentment in intense. Self-image identification is patterned in categories of gender one makes part of; and serves as a solid premise for a high Ego-self-evaluation.

The work has evidenced that youth confronts with problems of fortifying and affirming adequate gender identity that is favorable for Ego-self-image integration that are tighten up with rigid traditional gender roles an social norms. The research of gender differences has highlighted psychological mechanisms that create gender stereotypes and has updated the uni-dimensional masculinity - femininity models that would help youths orient in social role diversification process toward androgenic identity. The fact that a lot of youth transgress traditional rigidity from among the sex roles in self-identity through the androgenic model leads to some advantages: a better behavioral flexibility and adaptability, a better self image, a favorable psychical frame, an efficient social integration

In order to decrease deviation in such personality substructure and to find out one’s self gender identity it has been created and has been approved a complex psychological and pedagogical program that could be applied in practical activity of psychological services in Universities, in psychologists’ practical activity, in the work with youth groups, youth public associations (NGOs). According to the results of ascertained experiment and formation experiment (training), that lead to create the program would help youths to acknowledge and accept their gender identity.
