Summary

The thesis structure: introduction, three chapters, conclusions and recommendations, bibliography containing 112 titles/sources, 13 Annexes, 120 pages of basic text, including 76 figures and 38 tables. Results are published in 13 scientific papers.

The aim of the research consists in theoretical-experimental argumentation and development of the methodology for determination of coordinate transformation parameters and decreasing the deformations of map projections for large scale mapping.

The objectives: assessing the current situation in geodesy and cartography in the Republic of Moldova; analyzing and interpreting the coordinate transformation models between two datum and cartographic projections by deformations level; the elaboration of the methodology for determining the transformation parameters and map projections; elaboration of the program package and graphic applications for implementing computing relationships; the establishment methods for verification, testing and argumentation the results obtained.

Scientific novelty and originality of the results. A new methodology has been developed to determine the coordinate transformation parameters for the territory of the Republic of Moldova in order to increase of the accuracy of coordinate transformations, especially at the border area of the districts. For the first time, a map projection for the representation of the territory of the country was studied according of the geographic position, its extent and its shape, which can be successfully used in drawing up large scale plans. Map projections for pan -European applications according to the provisions of INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) Directive have been studied. There have been developed applications with graphical interfaces in the MatLab and Microsoft Visual Basic language for coordinate transformations. The scientific problem solved consists in developing a methodology for determining the transformation parameters between two coordinate systems and map projections on the territory of the Republic of Moldova based on mathematical models and graphic applications, which led to the improving of the accuracy of coordinate transformations and reducing map projection deformations for large scale representations.

The theoretical significance of the work consists in highlighting the theoretical and methodological aspects, which demonstrate accuracy improvement of coordinate transformation parameters determination between two datums and deformations optimization of some map projections.

The applicative value of the thesis is to increase accuracy of coordinate transformation of the Soviet coordinate system 1942 (SC42) into the national system MOLDREF99, as well as to optimize the map projections deformations for large scale representations.

The implementation of scientific results. The results of the research were presented to the specialists from Land Relations and Cadastre Agency and subordinated state enterprises, confirming that they can be used by relevant organizations in the fields of geodesy, cartography, photogrammetry and geography, as well as in production for specialists from the Republic of Moldova. The results were also included in the student’s educational process of the Geodetic Engineering and Cadastre Program of the Technical University of Moldova.
