Summary

The structure of the thesis: list of abbreviations, introduction, five chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography with 160 titles, 161 pages of main text (up to Bibliography), 7 figures, 12 tables. The obtained results are published in 8 scient ific works.

The purpose of the research: to analyze the process of implementing the Russian punitive legislation and the penitentiary system in Bessarabia between 1812 and 1864.

The objectives of the research: the analysis of the problem of punit ive legislat ion and the penitentiary system in Bessarabia in the literature and historical sources; the identification of the problem of the funct ioning of the rule of law in the Russia and its gradual implementation in Bessarabia; examination of the problems of the judiciary and the courts institutions; the elucidation of the police and prosecution bodies were organized and operated; investigation of the problem of the foundation and development in Bessarabia of the Russian type penitentiary system, appearance of the network of the detention places and their construction, and maintenance from the regional budget.

Scientific novelty: consists of the elucidat ion of mult iple aspects of the evolut ion of the Russian type of legislative, judiciary and punitive systems as a whole ensemble meant to lead to a denationalization of the native population of the region. By using a vast material it becomes more clear the evolution of the criminogenic phenomenon in the region. Theoretical value: consists of theoretical approach of the law phenomenon in the totalit y of representation in the Prut-Dniester territory in the period 1812-1864.

The applicable value of the research: consists of the analysis of the material referred to the researched domain that allows drawing a new vision on the history of law development in the history of Bessarabia in general.

The implementation of the scientific results: the obtained result s can be used at the lectures at the superior education institutions, historical studies elaboration, history of law, in the daily activity of the judiciary and penitentiary institutions from Republic of Moldova.

The materials of the research can be used in the arrangement of the rest rooms in the carabineer units, historic-informative panels, libraries in the penitentiary institutions
