Research goals and objectives: The goal of this dissertation is the investigation, from the perspective of the historical science, the organization of the Romanian Social Institute of Bessarabia, the structure, directions of activity, the results and the importance of the institution for the cultural-scientific life of the region, specifying the resonance of the results of its activity in the Romanian space.

The objectives set are: elucidating the degree of approach to this problem in historiography and historical sources; concretizing the process of foundation and organization of the institute; determining the directions of activity and the option for the systematic organization of the research on scientific fields; researching the complexity of the monographic campaigns organized in the field and highlighting the contribution of sociological research to solving social problems in Bessarabia; generalizing the role of the researchers in Bessarabia and identifying their contribution to the development of the national science; elucidating means of propagating the results of scientific research, undertaken by the regional institute.

The scientific novelty and originality of the dissertation. The thesis represents the first complex scientific investigation, historically, of the establishment, activity, and importance of the Romanian Social Institute in Bessarabia (1934-1940), as a regional form of research and social action movement, and the first scientific research institution in the social field from our area.

The scientific problem solved lies in arguing the qualification of the Romanian Social Institute of Bessarabia (1934-1940) as a true institution of scientific research in the area, and concretization of its uniqueness in the field of social sciences in inter-war Bessarabia; analyzing the activity of the institution based on the complex of documents and journalistic sources of the period; highlighting the significance of the results of scientific research undertaken by the Institute for cultural edification and social progress of the region; highlighting the contribution of the researchers from Bessarabia to the development of the social sciences, in this case, of the Romanian sociological science from the interwar period.

The theoretical importance of the thesis confirms the importance of theoretical background and emphasizes the primary role and scope of social sciences and scientific methodology in the study of historical realities. The key aspects of the theme understood, interpreted and highlighted in the work reflects the regional dimension of social movement of Romanian research and social action that focused on reforming society through knowledge rigorous scientific reality of social life and had a huge an echo, both in the country and abroad.

The applied value of the research is determined by the fact that the complex method of the monographic research, applied by the Institute for the scientific knowledge of rural social realities, its tendency materialized in concrete actions, to contribute to the cultural-scientific building of the area, are valid, instructive, necessary and fully applied to today's realities of the Republic of Moldova. The methodology of the inter-war monographic research can and should serve today's researchers in the elaboration of the monographs of the localities.

Implementation of the scientific results. The scientific results of the investigation were implemented by presenting reports and communications at national and international conferences, seminars and scientific symposiums, focused on the issue in question, completed with about 12 scientific publications (articles, theses, summaries); they are used in the elaboration of the courses of national history and of the monographic and synthesis works on the history of Bessarabia within the national unitary state.
