Summary

Thesis structure: Introduction, three chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, a bibliography of 263 titles, 145 pages of the main text, annexes, 13 maps, 27 figures. The results obtained are published in 15 scientific papers.

The aim of the thesis: elucidation and interpretation of the problem of currency evolution in the territory of the Principality of Moldova during 1711-1859 through analyzing the written and numismatic sources.

The objectives of the thesis: updating and interpretation of coin finds related to the period under review, through their cataloging and mapping; understanding the changes that have taken place and assessing their impact on the economy; determining the role of political actions; identification of the main aspects of the monetary circulation in the Principality. Scientific novelty and originality: this work is necessary and useful, since it is a comprehensive study on the issues of money circulation in the territory of the Principality of Moldova from 1711 to 1859, which until now have been approached only in general or in part. The obtained scientific results: resides in the specification and updating of the distinctive features of the monetary problem in the Principality of Moldova during the period 1711-1859, which allows a coherent integration of the monetary circulation process in the Principality of Moldova into the European international monetary system of this period.

Theoretical importance: consists in approaching and interpreting the organization and regulation of the monetary circulation in the Principality of Moldova from 1711 to 1859, which allows us to compile a complete picture of monetary circulation in this space.

Practical relevance: the paper will be useful to researchers in the field of history and numismatics in interpreting certain aspects of the economic life of the Principality, which are directly related to the process of monetary circulation, in particular by providing new numismatic material, developing the catalog and mapping coin finds.

Application of the scientific results: various aspects of the problem addressed were presented at conferences, symposiums and colloquiums, both national and international, being reflected in 15 scientific papers (1 collective monograph, 10 articles in scientific journals and 4 abstracts). The scientific results obtained are of an efficient relevance both by connecting them to certain study programs of the educational institutions, as well as in the numismatic researches.
