Summary

Radiotherapy of locally-advanced cervical cancer in Republic of Moldova: clinical results. PhD thesis for the scientific degree of MD Structure of the thesis: The thesis is exposed on 125 pages of typed text in electronic format, and includes introduction, 4 chapters, resolut ion, conclusions, recommendat ions, 269 bibliographic references, 5 annexes, 45 figures, 35 tables. The obtained results were published in 15 scient ific publicat ions. Study aim: evaluating the effectiveness of different treatment methods for patients with locally-advanced cervical cancer for improving immediate and long-term outcomes by developing a treatment algorithm. Objectives of the study: 1. Evaluation of the immediate outcomes of the associated radiotherapy compared to the chemoradiation of patients with locally-advanced cervical cancer. 2. Evaluation of the long-term outcomes of the associated radiotherapy compared to the chemoradiation of patients with locally-advanced cervical cancer. 3. Analysis of the frequency and severity of acute and late radiation morbidity for patients with locally-advanced cervical cancer in the groups with associated radiotherapy compared to chemoradiation. 4. Developement of radiochemotherapy treatment algorithm for patients with locally – advanced cervical cancer. The scientific novelty: have been studied and presented the immediate and long-term outcomes of associated radiotherapy and chemoradiation of locally-advanced cervical cancer, frequency and severity of radiation morbidity using the modern principles of external threedimensional conformal radiotherapy planning în association with intracavitary radiotherapy using the high-dose rate HDR radiation source. The scientific problem solved: The study shows the priority of chemoradiation using new radiotherapy technologies in patients with locally-advanced cervical cancer. This allowed improving the survival of patients with moderate toxicit y. The theoretical significanceand applicative value of the work: The present study was the first clinical experience in the Republic of Moldova in the study and implementation of modern methods of treatment in this category of patients in clinical practice. This will allow us to continue work on improving the methodological approaches to treating patients with the introduction of brachytherapy under clinical supervision, under the control of three-dimensional visualization (adaptive brachyt herapy). The study has allowed us to develop the chemoradiat ion algorithm for patients with locally-advanced cervical cancer. The implementation of the scientific results: The study results were applied in everyday practice of the Department Oncological Radiology IV (Brachytherapy).
