Summary

Field of study: political science.

Purpose and objectives of the thesis: the purpose is to realise a politologic study of democratisation of Moldovan political system through the lens of correlation with modernisation and globalisation - key factors that determine and affect the institutional evolution and political actions in the Republic of Moldova. The objectives: to carry out a complex historiographical analysis of field-specific scientific studies by both national and foreign authors, necessary for finding out and understanding the formation and evolution of the ‘democratisation’, ‘modernisation’ and ‘globalisation’ phenomena; examine the theoretical and methodological approaches of the correlation between the‘democratisation-modernisation-globalisation’ trinomial through the lens of the political system evolution; assess the impact of democratic transformations on the modernisation of political systems in certain Eastern European states in the context of global challenges; examine the specifics of democratisation-modernisation relation in the political systems of certain former-Soviet states; research into the origin and evolution of the Moldovan political system; highlight the interconnection between the democratisation and modernisation of the political system in the Republic of Moldova.

The important scientific problem resolved to theory and practice in the field of political science consists in developing a scientific-practical overview through identifying and analysing the role of global actors in the process of democratisation and modernisation of the Moldovan political system – which led to carrying out of a complex study for the representatives of scientific community, governmental institutions and associative sector, and allowed to give certain recommendations for strengthening and operation of democracy in the Moldova.

Scientific novelty of the obtained results consists in carrying out a research, and the author’s attempt to: 1) summarize the most important ideas, theories, concepts and patterns of democratisation, modernisation and globalisation in both national and international professional literature; 2) for the first time (in this kind of thesis) carry out a complex analysis of interaction of the ‘democratisation-modernisation-globalisation’ trinomial in the context of evolution of the Moldovan political system; 3) determine the role and impact of global actors in the institutional consolidation of the Republic of Moldova; 4) present in details the democratic evolution of the Moldovan political system during the 1989-2019 period; 5) assess the impact of the democratisation-modernisation correlation in the context of the European integration processes.

Theoretical signification of the researches manifested by indispensable argument and by obtainment of results related to the methodological peculiarities in approaching democratic transformations; determination of elements inherent to the processes of democratisation, modernisation and globalisation; specification of conditions of evolution and functioning of the Moldovan political system.

Applicative value of the work consists in the possibility of using this theoretical material in the didactic process and for carrying out further research in the field.

The implementation of scientific results was achieved through 11 reports and 8 communications at National and International scientific Conferences, and represents the result of research carried out by the author through the years of doctoral studies. This thesis can also serve as a methodological support for researchers who examine the field of humanities as regards the political, economic and social system, both for the pre-university and university environments.
