Habilitation thesis in history, Chisinau, 2022. Field of study: specialty 611.02 - History of Romanians (by periods).
Thesis structure: list of abbreviations, introduction, five chapters, 3-4 subchapters each, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography with 559 titles, 323 pages (up to bibliography), 2 appendix, statement on assumption of responsibility and author's CV.
The aim of the thesis: the complex, interdisciplinary analysis of the institution of marriage and kinship relations in the Land of Moldova in the XVIIth century - the beginning of the XIXth century, with reference only to the marriage of the Romanian Orthodox, with its legislative-canonical components, with its characteristic stages, but also as a social phenomenon.The objectives of the thesis reflect the analysis of historiography and the research of sources; providing a broad view of the institution of marriage and kinship relations by highlighting the characteristic elements of a social institution, its effects, establishing the degree of kinship, presenting the real situation; researching the attitude of the Church, the elite or the community towards legitimate and illegitimate marriage; determination of prohibitions and their applicability; the analysis of the involvement of the members of the society in the constitution of a matrimonial alliance; elucidation of the relationship of soul kinship; the analysis of the cases of concluding the second, third and fourth marriage, of the marriages with the relatives, of the mixed ones and the effects of their conclusion; elucidating the conditions for the dissolution of the marriage; highlighting the motivations for divorce and the daily reality; identifying the terms.
Scientific novelty and originality. It is a first interdisciplinary research, which presents the institution of marriage and kinship relations with the Romanian Orthodox in Moldavia in the 17th century - beginning of the 19th century, as part of the Romanian space and the Orthodox world - with the characteristic stages: from the prenuptial stages to the dissolution of the marriage, highlighting the established type of kinship, etc., also reflecting controversial issues. The results obtained: for the first time in the historical research, an interdisciplinary research of the institution of marriage and kinship relations is carried out. The obtained scientific results represent a considerable contribution to the investigation of some important aspects of the history of the institution of marriage and kinship relations in the Land of Moldova in the 17th century - beginning of the 19th century related to the functioning of the institution within the pre-modern society, with the highlighting of the modernizing aspects.
Theoretical significance. The conceptual framework on the institution of marriage and kinship relations in Moldova in the 17th century - beginning of the 19th century based on a complex methodology with important theoretical results was elaborated, which led to the creation of a new scientific direction - that of the phenomenon of marriage. The conclusions formulated in the thesis complete with new, unique data, the existing knowledge on the researched problem and can serve as a theoretical basis in the research of the phenomenon of marriage and kinship in other historical periods.
Application value. The research can be used to develop university courses and textbooks for the faculties of history, law, theology, sociology. At the same time, the results of the research can serve as a starting point in studying the aspects of the evolution of the institution of marriage and kinship in the preceding and following periods, in a comparative aspect.Implementation of scientific results. The theoretical and practical results were approved 2 monographs, 1 collective paper, 1 collection of documents ( co-authored), and 45 studies, scientific articles and theses, which were published in the Republic of Moldova and abroad, in papers, including plenary, presented at about 30 national and international conferences.
