Summary

The dissertation is devoted to the synthesis and investigation of bismuth(III) heterometallic coordination compounds with some 3d metals as materials with catalytic, electric or biologic properties as well as suitable precursors to mixed-oxide systems.

The synthesis methods of 34 new bismuth(III) heterometallic compounds with cobalt(II), cobalt(III), copper(II), oxovanadium(IV), chromium(III) and bi-, tri or polydentate organic ligands have been elaborated or improved.

By means of element and thermogravimetric analyses, IR and NMR spectroscopies and single crystal X ray diffraction the composition of all and structure of ten synthesized compounds have been established.

Different powder X ray diffraction techniques have been applied in order to identify the inorganic residues resulted from thermal treatment of the obtained heterometallic compounds. Some Bi(III)-Cu(II) and Bi(III)-VO(II) coordination complexes have been found to be convenient molecular precursors for Bi2CuO4 and Bi4V2O11 or BiVO4 mixed-oxide systems. Heterometallic coordination compounds of bismuth(III) and copper (II) with salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone of 1·10-6 mol/l concentration are capable to effectively inhibit human leukemia (HL-60) cells growth.

The compound [Cu(H2O)6][Bi(edta)]2·3H2O displays high catalytic activity in hydrogen emission process through radiolytic water decomposition, meanwhile the complexes from Co(III)- Bi(III)-dtpa series proved to be dielectric materials with high values of specific resistance.

The results of this work have been published in the shape of 4 articles, 3 patents and 16 abstracts at different local and international conferences.
