Actual natural languages, inclusive Romanian language, have in their lexicon a number of performative verbs who determine illocutionary forces of communicative acts.
The author presents some advances in the theory of speech acts. The recent attempts try to construct a precise formalized theory of illocutionary acts using the resources of modern illocutionary logic. Its task is to study the entire range of possible illocutionary forces; however these may be realized in particular in natural languages. As linguistic elements expressing the illocutionary force are performative verbs, what not describe an action and what are not true or false. The uttering of the sentence with performative verbs is, or is a part of, the doing of an action, which would not normally be described as saying something.
For describe the multiple aspects related to the performative verbs the author are experimented analytically 19 species of Romanian literature, focusing her attention on the possible characteristics, either grammatical or semantic, specific to the five classes of performatives (277): assertive (71), comissive (29), declarative (88), expressive (33) and directive (56).
The research is an innovative interpretation of Romanian verbal system consisting in identification, selection and semantic – pragmatic analyze of performative verbs, which in Romanian wasn’t included in a research.
