The paper is dedicated to the theoretical foundation of strategies in developing retail trade and to the study of practices and problems concerning the development and implementation of these strategies within the retail businesses of the Republic of Moldova.
The theoretical study and practical investigations allowed the author to interpret theoretically the strategies in developing the retail trade and the content of retail trade as a process system.
There are studied and argued the trends in developing the retail trade at international level in the light of developing strategies of major international retailers. As a result of the research of international experience, there are highlighted some useful practices to be implemented in the Republic of Moldova in order to extend the economical efforts of its own and to protect the domestic market from the retail trade’s point of view.
As a result of the theoretical and practical research, there is proposed a pattern of the strategic management process in the field of retail trade. There are proposed some functional strategies concerning the retail trade’s efficiency, as well as some recommendations on developing and implementing the retail trade’s strategies in the state of risks and uncertainty of the autochthon business environment.
The author has determined the trends and problems in developing the retail trade in the Republic of Moldova. There are also defined some weaknesses of the state policy concerning the domestic trade’s restructuring and proposed some strategic directions in developing the retail trade at macro economical level, within the framework of sustainable development’s policies of the Republic of Moldova.
