The dissertation on the topic Nicolae Dabija’s literary essays is the first monographic investigation of N. Dabija’s essays, making a synthesis of the poetic, social, ethnic, historical, psychological, stylistical elements of his work. N. Dabija is not only a well-known poet but also an essayer and a publicist who in his whole narrative creation beautifully blends artistic and documentary elements. The author of the dissertation drew special attention to literary factor of the writer’s essays. The study of the whole creation of N. Dabija has let the author draw its way from lyrical poetry to essay and militant articles.
In the dissertation a valuable contribution of N. Dabija as a chief-editor of the Literatura şi arta, as a historian, an author of school books, an essayer and a publicist is registered. The list of N. Dabija’s books on essays and articles is outstanding and – due to its actuality, depth and importance of the message, due to its adequate, attractive and tempting character and creative techniques – represents a spiritual treasure of our nation. Writing about Romanian language, history and culture, N. Dabija promotes the authentic Romanian values. Through his creation, the writer has an outstanding role in democratization of our society, in defining our nation’s self-conscience. He clearly emphasizes spiritual and social problems of the Romanians from Bessarabia and proposes the best solutions for their situation.
N. Dabija’s essays represent a remarkable example of artistic essays from our country and they undoubtedly deserve an honorable place in a possible anthology of Romanian essays.
