Summary

The purpose of this paper was to develop a scientific concept of strategic approach to raising Moldova’s competitiveness in the world market of international tourist services under the conditions of increasing globalization of social and economic activity.

Theoretical and methodological aspects of the issue of strategic development of international tourism under the conditions of economy openness and contradictory globalization processes are considered within the survey. The thesis deals with a survey of international tourism as a derivative and a prerequisite of the processes of integration into the global economy on the basis of the model of endogenous economic development and of a dialectic opposition of the subjective and objective within the global economic relations. The state and tendencies of strategic development of international tourist market have been highlighted and a survey of the international tourist practice of strategic development of tourism in the world and in Europe has been carried out. The objective foundations, peculiarities and contradictions of implementing the strategy of development of international tourism in transition economies under the conditions of regional economic integration have been revealed on the example of the Republic of Moldova. The prospects and ways of strategic priority development of the tourist industry in Moldova under the conditions of the nation’s self-identification in the global and regional integration processes have been substantiated and the methodological aspects of modeling the process of determination of supply and demand for tourist services in region have been developed.

The conclusions and recommendations presented in the paper determine its practical significance. They are focused on searching for the optimum strategic ways of integration of the national economy into the global economy, on raising the efficiency of the regional economic complex, revealing the strategic lines of development of international tourism in the Republic of Moldova, and on supporting the local manufacturers-exporters of tourist services.

The recommendations proposed in the thesis have been applied at a series of companies, institutions and organizations in the Republic of Moldova. Their implementation is practicable at various levels of economic hierarchy, from settlements and territories to the national and supranational levels, under the conditions of achieving the goals of efficient integration into the global innovative economy.

The survey results can be applied while laying down the priorities of national development under the conditions of working out strategies of economic growth in the countries of the Central and Eastern Europe, for research purposes, in the training of experts in the university and post university education system, and in the practical activities of business entities.
