The aim of the work was to reveal diversity, structure and functional status of the ichthyofauna of the water accumulation reservoir Vatra (Ghidighici) under present environmental conditions. Objectives: reveal of the actual status of ichthyofauna diversity of the Vatra (Ghidighici) water accumulation reservoir, analysis of the multiannual successions of the diversity and quantitive parameters of the reservoir ichthyofauna, estimation of their cause-effect peculiarities, establishment of the main factors that influence development of the fish populations in reservoir, elaboration of recommendation regarding sustainable use and efficiency of the reservoir fish resources.
Methodology of scientific research. Species indentification was carried out with help of the key guide in use. Estimation of the ecologocal indices have been realized according to the algorythms described by Simionescu V. 1984; Stan Gh., 1995; Mohan Gh., 1993; and others. Study of length and weight growth have been fulfilled according to the methods described by Năvodaru I. ş.a. (2008), Şibaev S. ( 2007), Umnov A. (1976), Cricsunov E. (1991).
Scientific innovation. For the first time there has been fulfilled a complete analysis of the Vatra water accumulation reservoit ichthyofauna, establishe multiannual successions of the reservoir ichthyocoenosis and their determining factors. There has been evaluated reservoir ecosystem status depending on structural-functions status of the ichthyocoenosis, and has been found fenomenon of ecologic polimorphism for some fish species and factors that determine it. There have been used mathematic models for calculation of the weight-length structure of fish populations, of the natural mortality coefficient and different ecologic indices.
The theoretical significance and practical importance. The results obtained in thesis
complement knowledge regarding ichthyofauna of the aquatic ecosystems of the Republic of
Moldova. Results regarding diversity, structure and functional status of the ichthyocoenosis have
served as base for elaboration and implementation of recommendation for reservoir fish production
increase. The obtained results are implemented by the Society of Hunters and Fishermen and used
in the didactic process at the Moldova State University.
