Area of Research: Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Goal of Research: Assessment of the efficacy of the use of BIO-R as preparation for vaginal and perineal plastic surgery in post-menopausal patients.
Research Objectives:
Scientific novelty: A new method of pre-operative preparation using BIO-R has been developed.
For the first time clear evidence has been obtained regarding an efficient epithelial regeneration and improvement in vaginal micro-biocenosis. It was demonstrated that BIO-R improves indexes of local immune response and allows for an accelerated healing post-surgery. A reduction in the rates of post-operative complications was established.
Theoretical significance. For the first time it has been proven that the benefit of the use of BIO-R in patients suffering from genital prolapse. It has been demonstrated that BIO-R has an immuno-modulatory action, allows for improvement in micro-biocenosis, and stimulates regeneratory functions and capabilities of vaginal epithelium.
Scientific value and clinical applicability. BIO-R is recommended for use in ambulatory conditions for post-menopausal patients suffering from genital prolapse for the purpose of pre-operative preparation when plastic surgery is indicated. Proposed method does not appear to be associated with adverse events and contraindications.
Implementation of scientific data. The proposed method is currently introduced and used in clinical practice at MSPI SRIMCHC and MSPI RH of CSRA. It is also a part of the curriculum at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at DPF SMPU”N.Testemiţanu”.
