Summary

Thesis Structure. The thesis comprises annotations in Romanian, Russian and English languages, abbreviation list, contents, introduction, 3 chapters, conclusions and recommendations, bibliography (180 titles), 121 pages, 3 annexes. The obtained results are published in 9 scientific works.

Aim and Objectives: The main aim of the research paper constitutes the identification and analysis of the semantic peculiarities and syntagmatic potential of state verbs in the Romanian language. To achieve the aim, we proposed to ourselves the following objectives: to establish the sphere of state verbs in Romanian; to distinguish the semantic types of state verbs; to describe the semantic-syntactic structure of state verbs; to point out the semantic and syntactic specific of state verbs; to study the distributional possibilities of state verbs considered as the nucleus of an existential group.

Scientific Innovation and Originality. The study constitutes an attempt to describe monographically the state verbs. We’ve intended to analyse the semantic and syntagmatic features of state verbs. The principal aspect we referred to is the one of the action structure of state verbs in Romanian, which is not elucidated till now in the literature of speciality.

Theoretical Significance and Practical Value. The research presents a theoretical and practical support for future studies. The investigation results will help to fill some gaps concerning the verbs semantics in general and namely the semantics of state verbs in the Romanian language. The material which was analysed may serve as a support in the elaboration of some courses of verb semantics and syntagm for Philology Faculties. The study will be of great interest in the lexicography practice, in writing syntactic dictionaries.

Implementation of Scientific Results. The investigation results were implemented in the didactic activity in the Higher Education during the theoretical and practical courses of Semantics and Grammar, they served as a helper in writing licence papers by students. The material will contribute to the elaboration of a dictionary of action structures of Romanian verbs.
