Summary

The thesis contains an introduction, three chapters, conclusions and recommendations, a bibliography including 214 entries, 14 annexes, 114 pages of basic text, 26 figures, 24 tables. The obtained results are published in 16 scientific works.

Study field: Pedology (soil erosion and protection).

Aim and Objectives: Aim: the evaluation of soil property changes and of the soil regimes caused by erosion. Objectives: the study of physical, chemical and physical-mechanical properties of ordinary chernozems with a different degree of erosion; the characterization of the humidity and nutrition soil regimes depending on the intensity of erosion; the testing of the anti-erosion process; evaluation of eroded soil productivity.

Methodology of scientific research. The evaluation of the impact of erosion on soil properties and regimes was carried out by determining and analyzing comparatively their characteristic value for the non eroded soils and for those with a different degree of erosion. The testing of the anti-erosion process was done on plots of land on which the overflows were controlled. Novelty and scientific originality. For the first time were determined values of the physical, chemical and water- physical properties of ordinary chernozem varying degrees of erosion in the southern zone of Moldova. The results determining the water, soil and chemical elements losses caused by erosion and overflows, depending on the degree of soil erosion and of the applied anti-erosion method, have an innovative character.

Theoretical importance. The undertaken investigations emphasize with sufficient objectivity and meaning the diversity of the properties and regimes of the soils possessing a different degree of erosion. Quantifying these characteristics allow the implementation of differentiated anti-erosion processes and tehnologies to conserve soil fertility.

The applicative value of the work. The obtained data were applied in determining the potential erosion and the utility of the system of anti-erosion measures on the agricultural lands of the SLR “IRI Carmen” from the village Lebedenco, Cahul district.

Implementation of the scientific results. The results of the research are implemented in the district Cahul on a surface of 420 ha and in the district Hancesti on a surface of 44.4 ha.
