Summary

A thesis of a Doctor in Biological Science consists of introduction, four chapters, conclusions and recommendations, 207 bibliographic sources, 9 annexes, 125 pages of the main text, 17 tables, 43 figures.

The results are published in 26 scientific works.

Study domain: 06.01.11 – plant protection. Aim of research: plants research which contain biologically active substances with insecticidal and antifeedal properties and estimation of the biological effectiveness of the plant extracts in reducing of population density of the Colorado potato beetle.

Objectives: detection of the effective species of the plants, choice of optimal method of extract, quantitative and qualitative characteristic of the extract and detection of its effectiveness in field experiments for reducing of population density of the Colorado potato beetle.

Scientific novelty and originality. As a result of the studies for the first time there were detected the species of the plants, the extracts of which possess of a high insecticidal and antifeedal activity and reduce the population density of the Colorado potato beetle. There was proved that is reasonable to use the crude extracts. There was determined the optimal method of extracting active substances from the plant Veratrum lobelianum and gave him the quantitative and qualitative characteristics. There were found out the optimal terms and quality of treatments for reducing of population density of the Colorado potato beetle.

Theoretical significance. The received results prove the presence of insecticidal and antifeedal properties of plant extracts and their influence on ontogenetic development stages of the Colorado potato beetle. These researches are the basis for development of new means of plant origin.

The practical significance of the work. The proved method on receiving, standardization and storage of the extracts from V.lobelianum allows to acquire the extract in the number required for it application in protection of Solanaceae cultures from the Colorado potato beetle.

Implementation of scientific results. The developed method of application of the extract from V.lobelianum may be recommended for use in integrated protection of Solanaceae cultures from the Colorado potato beetle, and also in quantity of scientific bases for registration of plant preparations.
