Thesis structure. The thesis is comprised of annotations in Romanian, Russian and English, a list of abbreviations, a list of contents, the text itself, 120 pages long, which contains an introduction, three chapters, conclusions and suggestions, and an 192-title bibliography. The results of the research have been disseminated in 7 scholarly publications.
Areas of research: grammar, functional and stylistic semantics, lexicography.
Goal and objectives: to identify and to analyse the semantic, functional and grammatical characteristics of semi-adverbs in the Romanian language. In order to reach this goal, the following objectives were established: to distinguish the fundamental features of semi-adverbs as compared to adverbs and other parts of speech; to describe the semantic and syntactic structure of semi-adverbs in the Romanian language; to analyse the syntactic features of semi-adverb actualization in the Romanian language; to determine the principles and possibilities of lexicographic presentation for semi-adverbs.
Scholarly novelty and originality. The present study achieves a attempt for a multilateral description of Romanian semi-adverbs. Special attention was paid to the distinguishing of semi-adverbs from adverbs and the lexicographic presentation of semi-adverbs. These operations have been carried out on the basis of a multilateral (semantic, grammatical, functional, and stylistic) analysis of semi-adverbs.
Theoretical significance and applicative value of the dissertation. The present piece of research may serve as a theoretical-practical basis for further study. Its results will contribute to filling the gaps concerning the semantics, the grammatical, functional and stylistic characteristics of adverbs in general and of semi-adverbs in particular, in the Romanian language. Implementation of research results. The results of the study may be successfully used in higher education — by teachers, during theoretical and practical courses of grammar, lexicology and lexicography, and by students working on their licence theses. The practical and theoretical conclusions of the thesis will be used for the lexicographic presentation of semi-adverbs and adverbs in Romanian language dictionaries.
