Summary

Structure of the thesis: introduction, five chapters, conclusions, bibliography consisting of 163 sources, 7 supplements, 132 pages of fundamental text, 9 figures, 41 tables, 12 formules. Results of this research were published in 17 scientific worksand and one invention.

Area of Research: ophthalmologia. Goal of Research: the elaboration of the algorithm of diagnosis and treatment of the complications at the wearers of contact lenses.

Research Objectives: 1. To assess the frequence of complications at the wearers of contact lenses and to estimate the possible relation between the appearance of them and „dry eye”. 2. To determine the influence of environment in the development of the complications. 3. To analyze the structure of the subjective symptomes, clinical modifications of the structure of the eye, the working of the lacrymal system and the cithomorphological changes of the conjunctival epithelium at the wearers of CL with „dry eye”. 4. To stability the efficience of the silicon-hydrogel contact lense in the treatment of the wearers with „dry eye”. 5. To evaluate the clinical epithelisation of corneea in using of „Bio-R” (Spirulina platensis). Methodology of the scientific investigation: There has been used prospective clinical analytic method. The held investigations included the comparable groups.

The selection of the data for clinical investigations has been made by „case-control” type.

Scientific novelty: Clear dependence has been obtained between development of the „dry eye” and the environment and smoking. The cithomorphology structure of the conjunctival epithelium and cells which produce mucina in „dry eye” has been studied. A new method of the treatment of the corneal erosions using Spirulina platensis – „Bio-R” has been developed.

Theoretical significance and clinical applicability: The obtained data added knowledge to doctors engaged ophthalmocontactology concerning complications at wearing of contact lenses; the algorithm of diagnostics and treatment of patients who use contact lenses with a „syndrome of a dry eye” both using contact lenses and being under the influence of environment factors is developed; the new method of treatment of erosion of a corneea with „Bio-R” (Spirulina platensis) application is offered.

Implementation of scientific data: the proposed methods are currently introduced and used in clinical practice at the Centers of Diagnosis and Correction of the Eyesight „Optic-Lux” and at the MSPI MDR
